Our Never Alone programme is designed to provide support for loneliness and other emotional and practical needs plus promote general wellbeing. We have recommendations to local groups who may be able to help you. Finding the right one that meets your needs or interests can be very fulfilling and truly boost your mood.

If you have a local group you would like to add to the listing below, please submit your details via the Google form here.

Social

Friendly, welcoming social groups can be relaxed and informal and offer the chance to chat and build new friendships.

We recommend local social groups and clubs for women and men which provide entertainment, conversation and a range of social activities.

Monday Club Café

Spend time with friends, enjoy games and crafts and maybe sing or dance to the live music. Or just enjoy a coffee and a piece of cake. The Monday Club Café runs every Monday morning at the Christian Centre, Aylesbury Rd, Wendover, Aylesbury HP22 6JG.

Arts & Crafts

Would you like to get stuck in with an arts project or learn a new craft?

There is so much choice when it comes to arts clubs from painting to pottery making. We can help you find the best group for you.

Messy Church

Once a month we host a Messy Church, this involves crafts, a story, songs and a meal together and it is open for all ages. We are asking everyone to pre-book. Visit the Facebook page for the booking link: https://www.facebook.com/MessyChurchWendover

Walking

Walking is a popular choice both for relaxation and fitness. If you would like to get outside a little more, it can quickly become an enjoyable activity, and there are many groups in your area who would love you to join them for beautiful country walks.

Simply Walk

Groups of chattering, smiling walkers can be seen across Buckinghamshire. All new walkers are welcome whether you are fit and active, haven't exercised in a long time, or have been advised to join by a doctor. Here you can view our calendar of upcoming walks.

St Mary's Walks

Our walks are open for anyone to join us so feel free to come along and to bring friends or dogs along with you. Walking is really good exercise and is also a great way keep in touch or make new friends.

We meet for a walk every month – usually in the afternoon on the first Sunday of the month. These walks are circular, starting and finishing in Wendover.

Books

If you are interested in meeting fellow bookworms, there are reading groups in most towns for friendly discussions and thought-provoking debates. We can help pinpoint the perfect book group for you in your area.

Book Club

Meeting on the third Saturday of each month at 10.30am, the book club provides an interesting and varied discussion group of book recommendations. Everyone enjoys the coffee and cake! For more details please contact us.

Hobbies

Having a wide choice of groups to pick up an old hobby or start a new one can be a wonderful way to meet new people with a similar interest to you.

We recommend local groups and clubs ranging from chess, bridge, poker, bingo, knitting, to bowls.

Film Club

Join us at Wendover Community Library for our weekly film club! Grab a seat and a cuppa and join us as we host blockbusters, classics, children's films and more.

Poetry Please

Friendly, informal and fun: our poetry reading group meets on the 1st Friday of each month (with the exception of January) from 10.30 am – 12pm in The Christian Centre. It is a relaxed time of sharing poems on a chosen theme, interesting conversation and always concludes with refreshments.

Music & Theatre

Would you like to join an amateur dramatics group or a choir?

Exploring music can be good for the soul. You can join music appreciation classes or join the church choir. Dancing is also a wonderful way to meet new people and have fun.

Music at St Mary's

Music at St Mary’s is for all comers – you don’t necessarily have to be able to read music, and we don’t hold auditions. We rehearse on Friday evenings for both services, and this is usually followed by a social evening at one of the local pubs.

Wendover Singers

We have members from all ranges of singing ability from the very experienced to the complete beginner. There are no auditions and members are not required to read music to join.
