We have recommendations to local groups who may be able to help you. Finding the right one that meets your needs or interests can be very fulfilling and truly boost your mood.

Social

Friendly, welcoming social groups can be relaxed and informal and offer the chance to chat and build new friendships.

We recommend local social groups and clubs for women and men which provide entertainment, conversation and a range of social activities.

Community Coffee Morning

You are most welcome to pop in for a friendly chat over a cup of tea or coffee. Parents or Carers are also welcome to bring their babies or toddlers, and we always have toys and snacks at the ready!

Thursday Lunch Club

Every Thursday we host a lunch club at the wonderful Guy Earl of Warwick in Welling. Come along to share a meal with like-minded people. Please note there are limited spaces each week, and clients will need to book their space in advance.

Arts & Crafts

Would you like to get stuck in with an arts project or learn a new craft?

There is so much choice when it comes to arts clubs from painting to pottery making. We can help you find the best group for you.

Art Group

Come and learn about different techniques and processes to brush up on your art skills! Twice a month the group have a tutor in the class to teach different techniques and use of materials. All participants need to register before attending.

Knitting and Sewing Group

We have a variety of groups in libraries where you can get crafty with thread and yarn.

Walking

Walking is a popular choice both for relaxation and fitness. If you would like to get outside a little more, it can quickly become an enjoyable activity, and there are many groups in your area who would love you to join them for beautiful country walks.

Guided Community Walks

Age UK Bexley runs a walking group based in Danson Park. Join us to meet new people and keep active at the same time! The session is led by volunteers and will go at a pace suitable for the whole group. After each walk the group will go for a chat over tea or coffee.

Belvedere Plodders

Belvedere Plodders are about loving the great outdoors and training for all your adventures.

Books

If you are interested in meeting fellow bookworms, there are reading groups in most towns for friendly discussions and thought-provoking debates. We can help pinpoint the perfect book group for you in your area.

Book Group

The group consists of a dozen or so members who in discussing the contents of the many books we read often brings our life experiences into focus, thus providing for a lively meeting.

Hobbies

Having a wide choice of groups to pick up an old hobby or start a new one can be a wonderful way to meet new people with a similar interest to you.

We recommend local groups and clubs ranging from chess, bridge, poker, bingo, knitting, to bowls.

Men in Sheds

Men in Sheds Bexley is a community group for retired men over 50 to come together, make things and most importantly have fun.

Befriending Cafes

Come along to one of our Befriending Cafes across the borough for tea, a chat and meeting new people! In each cafe, you can expect games, quizzes and on occasion, guest speakers. All sessions are led by our friendly and welcoming team of volunteers.

Cycling Club

Our club runs weekly social group rides every Friday morning for over 50s.

Tai Chi

Tai Chi classes can help you improve your overall fitness, balance, and strengthen muscles. Practicing Tai Chi can also be relaxing through its use of deep breathing and gentle flowing movements.

Music & Theatre

Would you like to join an amateur dramatics group or a choir?

Exploring music can be good for the soul. You can join music appreciation classes or join the church choir. Dancing is also a wonderful way to meet new people and have fun.
