Peter Wilfrid Kelly was born at the Salvation Army Mothers Hospital, 153 Lower Clapton Road, Hackney, London on 23rd January 1931. He spent his life as a draftsman, in London and Reading, later retiring to Saltdean, Brighton. He enjoyed bowls and was an active member of his Church and SVP.
He went into Brighton hospital on new years day 2021 after suffering a burst ulcer, however he stabilised and was moved to St Wilfrid's Hospice, Eastbourne. Tests revealed him to have a blood cancer but he showed no symptoms. He was discovered to have COVID a week later but again was asymptomatic. Over the next four weeks, he regained his strength and was due to return home on the 20th February. However sadly he went downhill at the start of that week and passed away aged 90 on the 18th February at 10:05 pm. He was not in any pain and just drifted peacefully off. He leaves behind his wife Hannah (Joan), three children Stephen, Carmel and Brendan and five grand-children.
His funeral service will take place at 11am on Tuesday 9th March 2021 at Our Lady of Lourdes Queen of Peace, Catholic Church, Rottingdean. This was Peter's regular church for the last thirty five years of his life. It will be live streamed by the church on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCc4VXBr3EOa43nCxxzB-Edw
