In memory of
Robert John Bewell
Robert was born in Quetta, then in India and now in Pakistan, when his Father was serving in Staff College in India.
He moved back to England in 1938, went to Oakwood Prep School, Chichester, then Eastbourne College and then onto RMA Sandhurst, commissioned in the Gloucestershire Regiment in 1955.
He served in the Army for 24 years, part of his service with the Trucial Oman Scouts, and two tours in Northern Ireland with a mention in Dispatches.
He joined Financial Services in 1983 originally with Hill Samuel, and ran his own IFA firm, Robert Bewell & Associates before launching the Letchworth office of Thomas Grant & Company Stockbrokers in 1996. With his daughter Susie, he then formed the Hitchin branch of Raymond James in 2002. He retired in 2016 aged 80 and took many course, including Cooking, Bridge and French.
He was an active member of the congregation of St Paul's Church in Letchworth and was also a Rotarian and enthusiastic networker.
He was a happy family man and leaves his wife Jane and two daughters Claire and Susie and three grandchildren, Elizabeth, Katherine and Oliver.
