Geoffrey William Hopcraft (Geoff)
Geoffrey William HOPCRAFT (‘Geoff’), of Broadfield, Crawley, died at East Surrey Hospital on June 18th, aged 75 years. Much loved and missed Husband, Brother, Father, and Grandfather. He leaves beloved wife of 55 years Mavis, sons Peter and Rees, daughters in law Linda and Jenny, Grandchildren Louie, George, Amy, and brother Peter.
Born in London, Geoff first moved to Crawley in 1960 where he first represented Crawley Amateur Boxing Club which had been formed by his father Arthur. He returned to the town in 1978 when he took up the post of Chairman of the club, a position he held for 37 years. He was a respected boxing referee, judge, and Master of Ceremonies across the Southern Counties area. Geoff was also a member of Ifield Golf and Country Club.
The funeral is to be held at the Surrey and Sussex Crematorium at 3pm on Wednesday, July 8th. Members of the boxing community and other friends are asked to attend the Arthur Hopcraft Gymnasium at 2.30pm to pay their respects. Family flowers only. Donations to Crawley Amateur Boxing Club via Ballard and Shortall Funeral Directors.
A fitting memorial will be held on a future date once social distancing restrictions have been lifted.
