Roderick Chalmers Lumsden (Roddy)
Roddy Lumsden 28.05.1966 - 10.01.2020
Roddy Lumsden, poet, died on the tenth of January this year in New Cross, London.
Roddy was born in St. Andrews, son of Betty and the late Hamish. He was their third son, after Jimmy and Eric.
He has had nine poetry collections published between 1997 and 2017, winning the Eric Gregory Award, was nominated for the Forward Prize, and twice for the TS Eliot prize.
He was also a devoted mentor and editor of other people's poetry.
His other passions were music and quizzing. He appeared on a poetry team on University Challenge, partnered Val McDermid in the Scottish team on Radio 4's Round Britain Quiz, wrote a Trivia lists book (Vitamin Q), and hosted numerous pub quizzes. No flowers please, but donations if desired to the Royal Literary Fund, who helped Roddy in the past.
