In memory of

Ivan Leo Savage

On Wednesday, December 18, 2019, Ivan Savage, loving husband of Doreen, father of Claire, Graeme and Philip, Grandfather of Shona, Alex, Connie, Lewis and Nell and Great Grandfather of Evelyn passed away at the age of 89.

Ivan was born on 9th December 1930 in Halifax, West Yorkshire to Frederick and Edith (Kaye) Savage. He married Doreen Mary Clayton at Christ Church in Sowerby Bridge on the 12th of March 1960.

Ivan was a voracious reader. He loved to watch rugby (having been a good player in his youth), he also enjoyed the Tour de France and watching cricket and horse racing. Ivan had a successful career in machine tool engineering, being at the top of his profession Ivan travelled the world as part of his work and in February 1981 he went to Buckingham Palace to collect the Queen's Award for Export Industry from Her Majesty. He was known for his love of his family, quick wit, his infectious smile, and his kind and compassionate spirit.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday the 8th of January at the Downs Crematorium, Bear Road Brighton at 12.00 o’clock mid-day. Family flowers only, please make donations to the Martlets.
