Peter William Shew
Mr Peter William Shew. Born in Headcorn on 14th August 1949. Passed away on the morning of 26th October 2019 aged 70 at home in Ratham Court, Newhaven. He leaves Gary and partner Tom, David and wife Julie. Grandchildren Aaron, Chloe, Marc and Kiean. His brothers and sisters Robert, Colin, Janet, Lynn, Terry, Pauline, Christine and Lisa.
Peter had a difficult start in life being bought up in a children's home where he took on role of big brother to look after his siblings Robert and Colin who were also in the home. When he was old enough he joined the merchant Navy and had travelled the world numerous times by the time he was 20. He still managed to keep in contact with and to look after his younger brothers even while travelling though.
During his life he married twice, from his first marriage was born his Son David and he also adopted Gary.
He had numerous and varied jobs including herdsman for Lord Penhurst, as a milkman, a grave digger and for Newhaven Town Council.
Later in his life he developed a Passion for singing and was an integral part of a few local Choirs. His deep Bass voice could always be heard in any song he was Involved in.
He was a quiet, gentle and humble man who was love by all who knew him. He will be greatly missed. Keep singing wherever you are Dad, we will never forget you.
Peter's cremation will take place at Wealden cremation on 25th November at 3pm followed by a celebration of his life at Lucas Memorial Hall Waldron.
