In memory of
Melanie Jane Lampard
Melanie Jane Lampard (née Mead), 53, of Uckfield, East Sussex passed away in Eastbourne District General Hospital on Thursday 17th October 2019.
On completing her A-Levels, at Holy Trinity Convent in Bromley, Kent, Melanie joined Deutsche Bank in the City of London as a personnel administrator. Using her renowned organisational skills, attention to detail, dedication and kind nature, Melanie quickly rose to become a personnel manager with a promising career in front of her.
Melanie married Nigel Lampard in 1989 and on starting a family gave up her banking career to dedicate herself to being a full time Mum.
As their children, Amy, Matthew and Bethany grew up, so started her long affiliation with St Philip's Catholic Primary School in Uckfield. Starting out as a volunteer with the infants in November 2000 Melanie actively supported the school’s Friends Association and held roles as Clerk to Governors, a midday supervisor, an Individual Needs Assistant and a Teaching Assistant. Melanie qualified as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant in 2012, with a focus on Specific Learning Difficulties (Dyslexia) and loved being able to teach. She thrived in her job and brought her caring kind nature to support and guide the children she was devoted to.
In her spare time Melanie was a highly skilled knitter, having been taught by her Nan at the age of 6, and her needles and wool were never far away wherever she went. She adored creating and gifting baby clothes to friends and family. She loved walks, both in the country and by the sea, and the annual family holiday was something she planned and looked forward to every year.
Melanie took pride in the family home and was dedicated to her husband and children, instilling within them her unending gentle and warm nature.
Melanie was diagnosed with multiple myeloma at the end of 2017 and faced her illness with the quiet, stubborn determination she was known for. She achieved her goals of a family holiday the following summer and returned to work at St Philip's from autumn 2018. Melanie retired on the grounds of ill health in early 2019 when the myeloma became increasingly active again.
She is survived by her brother, Justin Mead, her parents Brenda and John, her children Amy, Matthew and Bethany and her husband of over 30 years, Nigel.
Melanie will remain in the hearts of all those who knew and loved her forever. Her kindness, generosity, loyalty, caring and loving nature will be celebrated at a 1:30pm service at Our Lady Immaculate & St Philip Neri High Street, New Town, Uckfield, TN22 5DJ on the 14th November 2019.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Myeloma UK and the Pevensey Ward and Day Unit at Eastbourne District General Hospital. Online donations will go directly to Myeloma UK and the collection on the day of the funeral will be split between Myeloma UK and the Pevensey Ward and Day Unit.
