Mortuary Assistant - Ballard & Shortall, East Grinstead

CPJ Field & Company Ltd, an independent and family-owned funeral company, require a very special person to join our team dedicated to serving families at one of the most difficult times in their lives. We currently have a vacancy for a full-time, Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm, Mortuary Assistant based at our East Grinstead Funeral Home and covering the Ballard & Shortall Funeral Homes in North Sussex and the wider CPJ Field family of Funeral Homes.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone wishing to provide exceptional care to our clients and families. You will be working with and providing support to the Embalmer and Funeral Directors to provide an excellent service for customers. The post holder will be required to work flexibly in a tight knit team environment.

The key duties of the post are as follows:

· To assist the Embalmer as required

· Tidy and maintain cleanliness of mortuary areas at all times

· Enter details of coffin arrivals onto eFD (inhouse IT system), checking coffins for damage and for correct details on coffin plates

· Assist Funeral Service Team with the closing of coffins

· Vacuum and tidy Chapels of Rest and offices

· Preparation of the deceased for viewings including dressing and facials and place into chapels in accordance with wishes of the family.

· Preparation of the deceased for relocation to other Funeral Homes and funerals

· Assisting colleagues with booking deceased people in to our care by helping with first offices, measuring and placing into the cold room

· Showing clients into Chapel of Rest for viewings.

· Preparation of ashes into caskets as required.

· Assisting Funeral Directors as required

· Maintain and tidy car parking areas and driveways.
