Our Never Alone programme is designed to provide support for loneliness and other emotional and practical needs plus promote general wellbeing. We have recommendations to local groups who may be able to help you. Finding the right one that meets your needs or interests can be very fulfilling and truly boost your mood.

If you have a local group you would like to add to the listing below, please submit your details via the Google form here.

Social

Friendly, welcoming social groups can be relaxed and informal and offer the chance to chat and build new friendships.

We recommend local social groups and clubs for women and men which provide entertainment, conversation and a range of social activities.

The Tea Gang

At every one of our monthly HUB meetings we all expect to be served with tea and cakes - or biscuits!

Link-Up

Link-Up is our ever popular over 65’s group whose aim is to provide a fun morning with good company once a month. It now meets every third Tuesday in the month, from 1pm until 3pm and includes a cup of coffee, tea and biscuits followed by an activity and a light lunch.

Arts & Crafts

Would you like to get stuck in with an arts project or learn a new craft?

There is so much choice when it comes to arts clubs from painting to pottery making. We can help you find the best group for you.

Creative Expressions Art Group

This popular and friendly group is led by professional artists with different skills. Everyone welcome! Absolutely no experience is necessary - you do not have to be a good artist to join in.

Art and Craft

Our Art and Craft sessions are held on Monday mornings from 11am-12pm and are available to all.

Walking

Walking is a popular choice both for relaxation and fitness. If you would like to get outside a little more, it can quickly become an enjoyable activity, and there are many groups in your area who would love you to join them for beautiful country walks.

Ashdown Rambling Club

We are a friendly group with no age limits and non-members are welcome to come along for two walks before joining.

All Season Walking Group

Meeting on the 2nd Tuesday of the month, routes will be ‘circular’ between 4 & 6 miles, expected to last 2 to 3 hours. Annual membership is £2.00.

If you are interested in meeting fellow bookworms, there are reading groups in most towns for friendly discussions and thought-provoking debates. We can help pinpoint the perfect book group for you in your area.

Book Club

We meet in the last week of each month to discuss the same book in two different Book Clubs: you are welcome to join us for one or both.

Talking Pages Reading Group

Meet up with others to talk about books and reading on the last Monday of every month 4.30 - 5.50pm.

Hobbies

Having a wide choice of groups to pick up an old hobby or start a new one can be a wonderful way to meet new people with a similar interest to you.

We recommend local groups and clubs ranging from chess, bridge, poker, bingo, knitting, to bowls.

The Garden Army

The farm is predominantly being designed to support anyone who wants to get outside and experience nature to support their health. We welcome anyone.

Drop in for a session of knitting and nattering, every Saturday 2pm - 4pm at East Grinstead library.

Music & Theatre

Would you like to join an amateur dramatics group or a choir?

Exploring music can be good for the soul. You can join music appreciation classes or join the church choir. Dancing is also a wonderful way to meet new people and have fun.

Musical Fridays

Pay a visit to Age UK East Grinstead & District's 'Musical Fridays'. Our Community Hub is open every weekday offering a range of activities, but every Friday we host a day of music, from Anna's piano-playing - or accordion-playing, or violin-playing between 11.30am and midday we do gentle chair based exercises.

East Grinstead Choral Society

East Grinstead Choral Society is a choir of non-auditioned singers who love coming together to make music and learn new skills.
