We have recommendations to local groups who may be able to help you. Finding the right one that meets your needs or interests can be very fulfilling and truly boost your mood.

Social

Friendly, welcoming social groups can be relaxed and informal and offer the chance to chat and build new friendships.

We recommend local social groups and clubs for women and men which provide entertainment, conversation and a range of social activities.

Lunch Club

We always enjoy a very friendly and happy couple of hours. We visit various restaurants, pubs, hotels etc. and I am always open to suggestions of places the members have tried and enjoyed, for our future lunches.

Thursday Club

Thursday Club is run by the Council for residents who are seeking a place to socialise and engage in a varied programme of activities.

Frow Friends

Frow Friends is a community group created to encourage the forming of new friendships in the Forest Row area addressing isolation and loneliness by nurturing connections.

There is so much choice when it comes to arts clubs from painting to pottery making. We can help you find the best group for you.

We have a very enthusiastic, scone loving craft group who meet on a monthly basis.

Walking

Walking is a popular choice both for relaxation and fitness. If you would like to get outside a little more, it can quickly become an enjoyable activity, and there are many groups in your area who would love you to join them for beautiful country walks.

East Sussex Health Walks

These walks are designed to be an easy and sociable way to help people gradually get into a regular walking habit – they are only about an hour and not too difficult, and being with a friendly group helps to keep you motivated and feel encouraged.

Ashdown Forest Health Walk

A one hour group walk meeting at a different car park each week to make the most of the views. This is one of our largest walking groups.

Books

If you are interested in meeting fellow bookworms, there are reading groups in most towns for friendly discussions and thought-provoking debates. We can help pinpoint the perfect book group for you in your area.

Book Club

As we are quite a large group we run two sessions (afternoon and evening) on the first Monday of the month – each covering the same book title, at members’ houses with the option to attend one or the other.

Forest Arts Book Club

Talk books, make friends and enjoy a cuppa as you immerse yourself in a new literary world every month at Forest Arts Centre.

Hobbies

Having a wide choice of groups to pick up an old hobby or start a new one can be a wonderful way to meet new people with a similar interest to you.

We recommend local groups and clubs ranging from chess, bridge, poker, bingo, knitting, to bowls.

Evening Yoga

Classes to connect, relax and revive. Whether you want to practice Yoga for fitness, meditation for movement or just an escape from society then this class is for you. 'My yoga class is for all levels from beginners to intermediate.

Fridays Groups

If you're interested in arts, gardening, or cookery, check out the Tobias School of Art in East Grinstead RH19 4LZ every Friday from 11am to 3pm.

Knit and Natter

Another great place to connect with likeminded crafty people, to make friends and maybe learn something new.

Music & Theatre

Would you like to join an amateur dramatics group or a choir?

Exploring music can be good for the soul. You can join music appreciation classes or join the church choir. Dancing is also a wonderful way to meet new people and have fun.

Harmonies of the Heart

The group in Forest Row has been running since September 2022. During warm weather we sing outdoors while walking around Forest Row, singing by rivers, under trees and spending time honouring the sacred land.​ No singing experience needed.

Choir Practice

Singing together is one of the most ancient expressions of music. If you enjoy singing and would like to learn more why not come along to choir practice led by Simon Morris our Director of Music. It’s not only good for the soul it’s a lot of fun.
