I first started my career within CPJ Field as a funeral arranger at Haine & Son in Polegate. I was then later approached to become a trainee Funeral Director, and I jumped at the opportunity, I have now completed my Cert FAA certificate and i graduated in September 2025.
I have worked for the company for just over 5 years. I am a real people person. I enjoy working closely with the community and help organise community events. I love the nature of the role as a funeral director and supporting families during very difficult and challenging times. I find helping & supporting my families at the most difficult time a real honour.
I am a wife & mother and my most favourite thing to do is spending quality time with my family and friends whether that will be paddle boarding, going away on holiday and eating out together. I have in recent years started felting, and experimenting with arts and crafts which has come in useful whilst helping decorate our window displays for events and special occasions.
I have been a Funeral Director with Haine & Son since May 2015 and look forward to many more in the future. It was a great honour to receive my diploma in Funeral Directing a couple of years ago after training for a few years to obtain. I love meeting and helping families in their time of need. Hearing people’s life stories and trying to personalise the funeral around this is very rewarding. I also love being involved in community events such as our monthly coffee mornings held here at the Polegate office which we have plans to extend with our Hailsham & Battle Office. As a team we also enjoy putting together our popular window displays which help brighten our offices and being involved in our community. I am also a designated Dementia Friend and try to promote making our high street dementia friendly.
Outside of work, my passion in life is horse riding and I have grown up with a love of horses and the outdoors. I love spending time with my family and planning family days out, spending as much time with my husband and my two beautiful daughters.
I have been a funeral arranger for 1 year. It is a very varied role and I enjoy all aspects but especially supporting and guiding families through a difficult and emotional time.
I am enjoying getting to know the people of Battle and engaging the community with puzzle swaps, craft sessions and coffee mornings. My previous career as a primary school teacher has given me useful skills that have come in handy for making our funeral home more inviting, setting up colourful window displays and organising a book character treasure hunt for children during book week.
In my spare time, I like to read, do jigsaw puzzles and attend quizzes. I’m also a keen baker and make jams and preserves with fruit from my garden.
I am currently working as a Funeral Arranger in Battle. I also volunteer as a Bereavement Counsellor at St Michaels Hospice. I find it a privilege to support families through making arrangements at what is often an incredibly difficult and emotional time. I love having the opportunity to help families make the services for their loved ones unique and special, and I feel lucky to work as part of such a warm and supportive team.
I am a qualified counsellor, and I believe that my experience supporting bereaved clients at the hospice really helps me in my role here at Haine & Son. In my spare time, I like to spend time with my family, often going for long walks in the countryside or at Rye Harbour. I am also a fan of old Volkswagens, and drag race a 1971 Beetle.
It is essential that you choose a funeral director with whom you feel comfortable. Someone who will listen to you and your story, who will remove some of the burden of the many questions and decisions. Likewise, someone who will caringly guide you through the process of arranging a funeral that is personalised and unique, whether you are helping to organise the funeral of a loved one, or simply planning ahead for your own.
