I started at Cooper & Son in January 2018 and completed my Cert FAA in 2019. I am Lewes born and bred, and many of the families that we look after are known to me. Seeing a familiar face at a time of loss can be very comforting and this is something that in turn helps to make my job feel so worthwhile. It is a unique job, and one that carries great responsibility, but I cannot imagine doing anything else. I work with a great team of people, which undoubtedly helps.
My spare time is mainly spent looking after the grandchildren and gardening, especially on our allotment, hard work but a tonic for the soul! My other passion is history, having obtained my degrees at Sussex University as a mature student at the grand old age of 40! My other loves are my 5 cats…yes 5, and Lewes Bonfire. I am a member of the Southover Bonfire Society, one of seven societies that take to the roads of Lewes every November 5th.
I have been with Cooper & Son, Lewes since the beginning of April 2025, in the role of funeral arranger and administrator. Being a Person-Centred Counsellor means that I can use my natural way of being to it’s full extent with our families. It is humbling to work with and support our families during one of the hardest experiences of their lives.
I am very lucky to be working with a fabulous team within Cooper & Son and the wider company, which makes coming to work a pleasure. In my spare time I like to crochet, cook, and pottering in my garden. I enjoy socialising, eating out, the theatre and playing boardgames, cards. I especially like to spend time with my four children, my grandchildren, and my siblings.
It is essential that you choose a funeral director with whom you feel comfortable. Someone who will listen to you and your story, who will remove some of the burden of the many questions and decisions. Likewise, someone who will caringly guide you through the process of arranging a funeral that is personalised and unique, whether you are helping to organise the funeral of a loved one, or simply planning ahead for your own.

The average funeral is held between 13 to 16 days following the death, this timeframe takes into account all of the factors involved in organising a funeral, from obtaining official documentation through to scheduling time for officials and facilities.
It is common practice for some religious funerals to take place within a certain timeframe, where this is requested we will do our utmost to help with your arrangements.
We will work with you to ensure you have the funeral service suited to your needs and you should never feel under any pressure to rush through your arrangements.
We are here to provide you with any help and support you may need, from the preparations for the funeral, through to the event itself and the days and months that follow.
