Helen Wilton
It is with great sadness that the family of Helen Wilton announces her passing after a year-long struggle with lymphoma on June 15th, 2021, at the age of 59.
Helen passed away in Stoke Mandeville Hospital with her husband, Andrew, and daughter, Charlotte, by her side. Helen came from a very small family with Andrew and Charlotte being her only living relatives on her side of the family.
Helen was born in Darlington, County Durham, and remained a ‘Northerner’ at heart even having lived in the Midlands and the South for most of her life. She studied Theatre Design at university and worked for a while at Birmingham Repertory Theatre before switching to administrative roles. She had wide interests in history and the arts and particularly liked to watch anything by Lucy Worsley on the television.
She was a strong supporter of numerous charities, especially nature (Woodland Trust) and animals and wildlife (WWF, Blue Cross) as well as health (Crohn’s and Colitis) and, of course, Carers Bucks in Aylesbury where she worked for 10 years first as a volunteer and then as an employee.
Helen was always conscious of the imminence of her 60th birthday, because her mother passed at that age. Her lymphoma diagnosis when she was 58 was a shock, but she remained extremely positive throughout her treatment, right up to the sudden deterioration at the end.
She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, and most of all by Andrew and Charlotte.
