In memory of

Philip James Toy

Philip James Toy was born on the 21st May 1964 in Rayleigh, Essex. He had a keen interest in music, photography, and astronomy. The majority of his childhood was spent in Whitehaven, Cumbria, where he played tenor horn in a brass band and partook in many competitions. A love of walking also began due to spending much time in the beauty of the nearby Lake District. Due to a change in his Father's job the family moved to Slough in Berkshire in the early 1980s where he attended college. He worked as a scientist in green technology, something he was very proud of and always had jobs with blue chip companies such as BP, Henkel and Johnson Matthey.
He continued his love of playing music whilst in Slough and learned to play the guitar, and drums.
He met his wife Rachel in a Chilterns 20s 30s walking group in 2003. After being friends for a year they got together in 2004 and were married in Ross-on-Wye in 2008. They moved to the Chilterns in 2007 to set up the marital home, which was a charming cottage with ample garden.
Sadly Philip died on 14th March 2025 at home, after a short battle with cancer. He was only 60 years old and was taken far too soon from us. He was a lovely man with a big heart, bags of compassion and truly generous nature. He will be very much missed x
