Barbara Dean-Dziadura, previously Barbara Szymichowska, was born on 23rd March 1928 in Torun, Poland.
She was the youngest of three daughters born to Julian and Amelia Michalowski.
In 1940 her father was taken to Stutthof concentration camp where he died in 1942. Soon after the end of the Second World War her mother died of cancer at the age of 48.
Barbara studied and worked as a bookkeeper until 1958 when she came to England to marry Marian Szymichowski. They had one daughter Ewa.
In 1978 she was widowed when her husband died of Leukaemia. She married for the second time in 1984 to Wladyslaw Dean-Dziadura. They lived in Dunstable for 20 years before moving to Polish sheltered housing in Penrhos, North Wales where Wladyslaw died in 2015.
Barbara had four grandchildren - Richard, Stephen, Christopher and Katherine and one great-granddaughter Alexandra who all brought her great pleasure and pride. She was an extremely warm hearted and very generous person.
She overcame bowel cancer but dementia caused her last years to be very difficult. She moved to St Nicholas House, Church Stoke to be closer to her daughter and the wonderful staff at St Nicholas House made her last years as happy as possible.
She died on 15th August in Royal Shrewsbury hospital.
She will be greatly missed by all her family.
