In memory of
Andrew Paul Smith (Andy)
On Sunday 5th June, Andy Smith, loving husband and devoted father, sadly passed away suddenly and unexpectedly at home aged 57.
Andy was born on 2nd August 1964 in Newport Pagnell to Keith and Janet Smith. He achieved a Higher National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering at the Buckinghamshire College of Higher Education in 1986. He worked as a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer for his entire career, firstly at Perkin Elmer with a short spell at Mantis before joining Oxford Instruments. He married Sara on 6th August 1999 and they went on to have two children whom he adored and would do literally anything for.
Andy was a very special man who touched the lives of everyone he met. His sense of humour was insatiable and he could diffuse any situation with a witty comment. Among his passions were his music - he was an awesome piano player although he would rarely make it to the end of a piece instead playing a medley of tunes as his mind wandered from one favourite tune to another. He also loved sport. In his twenties and thirties, he was a dedicated member of Aylesbury Rugby Club - both on and off the pitch! He was also a keen cyclist. At the time of his death, he was training for a 122km cycling event which was ridden in his honour by two good friends. He never did achieve his dream of cycling the End to End from John O-Groats to Lands End.
A funeral service will be held on Monday 11th July at 3pm at Bierton Crematorium. Family flowers only please.
