We have recommendations to local groups who may be able to help you. Finding the right one that meets your needs or interests can be very fulfilling and truly boost your mood.

Social

Friendly, welcoming social groups can be relaxed and informal and offer the chance to chat and build new friendships.

We recommend local social groups and clubs for women and men which provide entertainment, conversation and a range of social activities.

Fun and Friendship

Taking place on the last Friday of each month at Amersham High Street Methodist Church, we host a "Fun and Friendship" afternoon with speakers, activities, and with tea and cake of course!

Lunch Club

The lunch club run by Age Concern is for the over 70s who live alone and would like to eat and socialise with others. It costs £4.00 to attend and be provided with a delicious, cooked two-course meal with tea and coffee to finish.

Arts & Crafts

Would you like to get stuck in with an arts project or learn a new craft?

There is so much choice when it comes to arts clubs from painting to pottery making. We can help you find the best group for you.

Crafty Cuppa

A drop-in session for everyone who fancies a bit of company! Bring a craft to work on while you chat if you would like to. Held on the 2nd and 4th Friday of each month between 10.30am and 11.30am at St Michael & All Angels Church.

Pop in and Paint

Have you ever felt that you would like to try your hand at painting? Then come along and join this friendly group tutored by Liz and Jenny, members of the Simpatico Art Group which exhibits regularly at St. Michael's. No previous experience or knowledge needed, only enthusiasm and interest.

Walking

Walking is a popular choice both for relaxation and fitness. If you would like to get outside a little more, it can quickly become an enjoyable activity, and there are many groups in your area who would love you to join them for beautiful country walks.

Amersham and District Ramblers

We are a friendly and welcoming walking group located in the heart of the Chiltern Hills Area of Oustanding Natural Beauty. We have regular walks on most days of the week, attend as many or as few as you wish. Non members are welcome to try out our walks although regular walkers are expected to join the Ramblers.

Simply Walk

Groups of chattering, smiling walkers can be seen across Buckinghamshire. Come and join us on one of our many walks throughout our lovely county of Buckinghamshire. Walking is a fantastic way to get out and about and meet new people while improving your health and wellbeing. The current Simply Walk programme is available here

Books

If you are interested in meeting fellow bookworms, there are reading groups in most towns for friendly discussions and thought-provoking debates. We can help pinpoint the perfect book group for you in your area.

Sustainable Amersham Book Club

The Sustainable Amersham Book Club is a great way to really focus on a subject and learn from the discussions. Anyone can dip in and out of the book club depending on whether they can make the date, or are interested in the next subject.

Hobbies

Having a wide choice of groups to pick up an old hobby or start a new one can be a wonderful way to meet new people with a similar interest to you.

We recommend local groups and clubs ranging from chess, bridge, poker, bingo, knitting, to bowls.

Hobbies Club

A chance to socialise whilst doing a hobby activity on Mondays between 1.30pm-3.30pm. Please bring along your own art, craft or needlework project to work on. The session includes refreshments and costs £2.00 but your first session will be FREE.

Tuesday Group

Tuesday group usually meet on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of the month. The group welcomes ladies and gentlemen of all ages. We have a varied programme of talks, games, quizzes, crafts, etc. In the summer we often go out for a ramble or visit a place of interest.

Amersham Bowls Club

We are a thriving lawn bowls club based in Hervines Park, Amersham. Whatever your age and whether you are experienced bowler or a complete beginner you're very welcome to join our club.

Knit & Natter

All are welcome at our Knit, Natter, Crochet, Craft and Chatter sessions at Amersham Library from 10.30am to 12pm every other Tuesday of the month. Bring your craft of choice or just come for a natter. It's also a great opportunity to share ideas and pick up tips.

Music & Theatre

Would you like to join an amateur dramatics group or a choir?

Exploring music can be good for the soul. You can join music appreciation classes or join the church choir. Dancing is also a wonderful way to meet new people and have fun.

Amchor

Amchor is a friendly and well-regarded choral society, we are always keen to welcome new members who share our enjoyment of choral music. We rehearse from 8.00pm to 9.45pm on Monday evenings, at Amersham Free Church, Sycamore Road HP6 6AJ.
