We were all very saddened to hear of John’s passing. Please know I share in your grief.

Sadly John has gone to his eternal rest. It should give us solace to know that he is at peace and will reap his just rewards for the good life that he lived.

The Bible says "Blessed are they that mourn for they will be comforted." I pray that God will bestow his choicest blessings on you and your wonderful family.

He will be sadly missed, he will always be remembered as a true Gentleman and dear friend.

Darren.

My dear Uncle John bought so much love and laughter to our family, his friends and anyone who was lucky enough to cross paths with him. His stories always had me hooked, his dancing made me laugh out loud and his compassion always made me feel like I had a safe place to go when in need. He is an inspiration to many, and completely irreplaceable. I don’t think there are words to express how deeply he will be missed. My little boy may not get the privilege of meeting his Great Uncle John but he will be bought up to know what a wonderful soul he was, and will forever be.
I hope you are resting peacefully, all my love forever and always, Louisa x

John, there were so many occasions when you took my hand and said everything’s going to be ok and it was!
I’m privileged that you are my 3rd Brother, you’ve always been so much more than my Brother-in-Law.
You are one of the kindest, funniest people I know, your loyalty and love for your family and friends is unquestionable.
Spending quality time with you these past 6 months was a privilege, I will always treasure the memories we made during this time.
I miss and love you, thank you John for being a true gent, how lucky are we to have had the pleasure of you being a member of our family ❤️ xxxx

So many special memories
That we all have of he
The man known as John
But we all called Woods or Woody
We sure will miss you mate
On that, we all agree

Deep thinking, clever guy
Not much went past you
Or over your head.
Just like your football skills
It must be said
Your dry sense of humour
How funny you be
A very special guy
Is our Woody

The way that you dealt with the terrible news
Unbelievable, and everyone did see
There was never a complaint , never a why me
Strength, with complete and total dignity
Just an inspiration for us all Woody,
You will forever be.

And with Nicola beside you every step of the way, a match made in heaven, i have to say
Amy, Emily, and the boys
How lucky they be
To have had a wonderful caring
Dad and grandad who loved them unconditionally

We are all broken hearted
And all feeling raw,
But I know with time
our hearts will cure.
Fond memories will ease our pain
And I know one day
We will all meet again.

We all love you Woods
That is plain for all to see
Rest in peace my friend
for all of eternity xxxxx

John was such a lovely lad who lived life to the full. Knowing him during his time at Hitchin Town FC was a pleasure for me and I fondly remember attending John and Nic’s wedding celebrations in Luton. In life, as in football, John gave his all and battled to the end against the odds, he will be sadly missed by us all.

I had the honour to work with John for many many years, in the time that we spent together I can truly say he was a one of a kind.
He was a kind, funny, hard working man who never said no ( especially when it came to having a chat about football ).
He will be dearly missed by myself and the team at Stansted as he was loved by many. Our thoughts go out to the family and friends for losing such a lovely person.

I have known John since I was 16 and working with Nicola. I had the fortune of being welcomed into their family, watching the girls grow and they felt like my second family. John was a lovely caring and funny man and a wonderful husband father and friend. I will always have great memories. He will be so missed. Sending all my love xxxx

It was with some sadness that I got this news from John Fry (ex Luton Post Office) two weeks ago , about the passing of " Johnny" . He was a great bloke with a superb sense of humour , always helpful as a Post Office colleague , a distinct memory is of him wearing braces , and the love of football . i had no idea to the heights he achieved on the pitch . I do not remember him complain when the going got tough as it did in the 80's , such was the strength of his character. A real gentleman who I am sure will be sadly missed .
My Deep condolences go out to the family .
