I just don’t know what to say other than you were loved, we didn’t see one another regularly but whenever we spoke or met we laughed and that brings me joy.

Since we have known you, there have been many adventures, many years of fun and laughter, and many wonderful family reunions. Thank you for your friendship and for being in our family. And most of all, we thank you for the three beautiful loving girls you and Olindo have given us. We believe that the family you leave behind is the real success in life. C'est avec beaucoup d'émotion que j'ai appris que Carolyn nous avait quitté. Je garde un souvenir attendri d'elle qui m'avait accueilli bien des fois dans la maison familiale de Louveciennes où, enfant, je venais rendre visite à Amanda. Je la voyais aimer ses enfants discrètement, à sa manière. Je lui souhaite de trouver la paix et la sérénité et j'envoie toutes mes pensées affectueuses à son papa ainsi qu'à Karen, Amanda et Melissa. Elle restera dans nos cœurs.

J'ai le souvenir d'une photo de Carolyn, je crois que c'était en Afrique. Le souvenir d'une photo avec la lumière chaude du soleil en fin de journée. Et la savane autour. C'est à cette image que je pense quand je me souviens d'elle. Cette photo était dans la jolie chambre d'Amanda, dans votre maison de Louveciennes. Carolyn may often have been far away but she was always the most loving and caring cousin and a fabulously supportive niece to my mother who loved and chuckled after Carolyn’s regular newsy phone calls, and she was always cheered by Carolyn’s many visits to Windsor. Carolyn extended her warmth and love to us, our son and daughter and their families, and visits to Oxfordshire for family get togethers were treasured. In later years it was our joy to be able to meet Carolyn in Eastbourne although the prospect of joining her for a dip in the English Channel was not necessarily welcome! All our lives have been so much richer for having Carolyn in our world. She will be forever in our hearts and memories of her will never fade. We send all our love. David, Elizabeth and family. xxxx

J’ai été très triste d’apprendre la disparition de la merveilleuse Carolyn. J’ai beaucoup pensé a vous. Je me rappelle tout particulièrement de Carolyn conduisant une Porsche de son mari car le Chrysler Voyager était en panne, calant sur la place Royale à Saint Germain devant la police qui nous arrête et demande les papiers de la voiture - Carolyn ne trouve rien, arraché un morceau du tableau de bord en cherchant et le levier de vitesse se casse. La tête des policiers et les rires me restent en mémoire. C’est super que vous ayez pu si bien l’entourer avant son départ. Je vous embrasse tous, Isabelle

Very, very sad news about Carolyn. I will always have happy memories of fun and laughter with her at college and flat sharing in Hampstead in the late sixties. Sadly, we did not see each other often enough over the years, but when we did meet we had some lovely happy times.

Years have passed but I have only now come across the news of dear Carolyn's passing. My memories of Carolyn go back to our early childhood where we lived opposite each other in Karen, just outside Nairobi. We were about 10 years old at the time. We played 'air hostesses' in our back gardens, donning BA caps. Weekends were spent together staying over at each other's homes. I had the opportunity of meeting Olindo and seeing Carolyn after many, many years in South Africa where Olindo was racing. We later met up again in England about 10 or more years ago. I often tried to contact her but never managed to. I am so sorry I never had the opportunity to see her again. My dear childhood friend. My love to Olindo and her precious girls.
