Mary, you and Theodore have been a part of all my life. Since I was a wee boy visiting you with my grandparents, when I brought my children down to stay with you year after year. With every autumn you and Theodore visiting Sundhope to walk the hills and recently when we popped by and walked through Stowe with you. Never did you change one bit. Always did you put others first. Never were focussed on worldly goods. Always were you selfless. Always caring for the ponies and those who loved riding them and there were and are many. Your stories of those you’ve met, knew and loved were gripping. We love you and you will be missed. Your inspiration to do good for others remains and will go through the generations. A lasting legacy. We love you

Rest with Theodore Mary, you brought me so much joy and love throughout my childhood (and as a grown up) which I will never forget. As you said, we are all an extended family and I know everyone that had the pleasure of coming to the stables feels the same. With love to you from Ted and I. Thank you for everything

So many happy memories were spent at the Stables with Mary and Theodore. An idyllic childhood, riding horses, having pony parties and making friends for life. I will cherish those times for the rest of my life. Ride free and wild Mary. With much love Sarah xxx

Our darling Mary. Her and Theo gave so many of us wonderful safe and carefree childhood memories to treasure for life. Such old school gentlefolk. Our world is a much sadder place without them.

Heading to Stowe gardens with my dad while he went fishing many years ago and see the ponies following Theodore was the start of mine and my sisters love of horses! So many happy memories. Donald and Wally putting up with us every weekend! We can’t thank you enough for your kindness and being apart of our childhood. You will be greatly missed by me and many more. You are back with your beloved Theodore.xx

Mary - a total legend. Quite simply Mary and Theodore gave me the most precious memories of my childhood - helping at the stables in the school holidays and riding every weekend. Rest in Peace Mary.

I will miss you so much Mary but am thankful for everything you have done for me - in the early days teaching me to ride, having opportunities to stay and help at the yard and be part of your extended family. It has been a privilege helping you in your later years and I've valued the time we've spent each day. The Blackjacks have been so happy at your stables and I couldn't thank you more. Love Sally and the Blackjacks xxx

Thank you Mary for teaching me to ride - I loved spending every Saturday at the stables, first ride of the morning then mucking out and cleaning tack - just what a horse-mad girl needed. You were a legend - Stowe and all of us were lucky to have you. To horse!

Though I only had the privilege of meeting Mary a couple of times in recent years, I will always remember her warmth, wisdom and witty humour.
