Philip Cohen
In memory of my PhD supervisor and friend Michael Rosemyer
In memory of my PhD supervisor and friend Michael Rosemyer
John Easterby and I were Michael Rosemeyer's first PhD students (1966-1969). Michael taught me almost everything I know about protein chemistry and kindled my interest in enzyme regulation. Without his support and inspiration my life and career would have been entirely different.
Michael was still a young man when Philip and I became his research students, but his maturity meant that I regarded him as a father figure; I had great respect, admiration and affection for him. He not only taught me protein chemistry but, through his command of language, he also taught me to write properly and set me in good stead for an academic career.
Michael was one of the kindest people I have known and he is greatly missed.
I became an undergraduate student in Biochemistry at UCL in 1962. Eventually I became a member of staff and remained at UCL in that capacity all of my working life. Therefore Michael and I were departmental colleagues for many years. He was a wonderful colleague, always cheerful, kind and wise. I shall always be grateful for the wise and patient way in which he led us as our Head of Department through some difficult times. He was much liked by generations of students and in fact I believe he was the last survivor of those who taught me and helped to instil in me my love of biological science. Thank you Michael from the bottom of my heart.
In memory of Mike, a most kind and caring UCL colleague and friend. Liz Shephard and Ian Phillips

Mike was a founder member of The Chiltern Probus Club, so the club is pleased to make a donation in his memory, from all his friends in the club.
In memory of a beloved brother-in-law and uncle and of happy times our family spent together.
My heartfelt condolences to the family. Michael was a dear friend and colleague to my father, Suresh Tate, who died in 2020. I have the best memories of “Dr. Rosemeyer” when he visited in Manhattan when Dad was at Cornell Medical. He taught me a bar song! He was a kind and warm and brilliant person. I hope he and Dad are in a lab in the sky. Geeta
