Nous ne serons malheureusement pas avec vous en ce jour douloureux pour vous tous, mais nous y serons en pensée
Acceptez toutes nos condoléances
With our heartfelt sympathy from the entire East/West team.
Basil held a close relationship with my father (Dom Spinosa - East/West). We hold very fond memories of Basil's warm heart and kindness. We will miss him dearly.
Basil was a legend - i and everyone who was lucky enough to work for or with him learnt so much from how he solved problems and handled customers. He had a big heart and was firm but kind with all people he worked with. He always had time for everyone and had a remarkable gift for knowing when you needed some extra support and time - thinking of all of you during this time - what a life well lived.
I can’t speak more highly of Basil. It was a great privilege to know him as a friend and work with him. I will certainly treasure the many, many happy memories. Hope we meet again, Bas !
Dear Basil was just the loveliest man in the world. Meeting him in Chalfont St Giles always brightened my day. He and Joan really were a great couple, they had such a happy life together. We will miss him.
A Day in a Life...1997 june, first step in Cabourg...Few words exchanged when both Family arrived for a long friendly and Lovely relationship...30 Years later its a pity to tell You ByeBye and A massive pride to be part of same Family FOREVER...Just Please lets have a "Dynamite Spritz" overthere in thinking about All the great Time we have got Together...LOVE Georges @ Violette and Family
I developed a great respect for Basil after working with him on several programs during his career. He always had time to listen, to help solve problems, and he leaves behind an unforgettable impression. I will miss those regular "keep-in-touch" emails that we shared over these last 25 years.
Basil was the first person I met when I joined Martin-Baker in January 1961. We soon became good friends and I admired his ability to keep calm even under the greatest pressure. At separate times he and I had tours with the US Navy and in Washington DC and this shared experience added to our friendship. We also worked closely on two vital "must win" proposals. With the help of Basil's US contacts to guide us, we won both.
In retirement when Chris and I met with Joan and Basil for our regular lunches we inevitably looked back very happily on our shared experiences . We were planning our next lunch when ill health intervened. On my last visit to him in hospital he was sleeping peacefully so I left intending to visit again in a day or two. I wish now that I had woken him as there were to be no more visits.
Basil was a very special and cherished friend who is greatly missed.
A wonderful neighbour who with Joan was always a kind and helpful presence. He will be remembered with great affection.
I’ll miss Basil dearly: The Vache just won’t feel right without him. Getting to see him out and around, or getting to chat with him about the baseball in Chicago, was always a treat. He’ll be sorely missed xxxx
Many happy memories of times spent with the family. The Dewick Family
Semper Fidelis old friend !

A great loss to us all, especially those of us at St Michael's Church.
It was a privilege to get to know you and work in your department, thank you for your support and guidance. Thank you also to both you and Joan for your friendship to Angela and I over many years. You have been a true Ambassador for both Martin Baker and for out country, and inspiration to many.
Thank you Basil, Rest in Peace
An inspiration to us all and always with a sense of humour. He will be sorely missed at St Michael’s.
