So very sorry to hear of the sad loss of Chris. Sending condolences to the rest of the family.
On behalf of RAF Halton team members. Our thoughts condolences are with the family.
Chris was such a nice guy. At school he was mad about football and trains. I smiled every time I saw him walking the dog and will miss him.
I met Chris for the first time when I was at Aylesbury College – must have been in about 1974/5 I guess. We were more passing acquaintances at that stage.
Fast forward a year or so and I bump into him on Euston Square underground station. Pretty much at the same time we said ‘what are you doing here?’ It turns out we are both working for BR, and both in the same building! From there we built a friendship that spanned many years, but unfortunately we lost contact with each other in the late 80s probably around the time that I had moved to London and my first child was born meaning I had other priorities.
I have many happy memories of cruising around with him in his various cars, for example heading off to the lake district on a whim one weekend and ending up sleeping – or trying to sleep – in his car while the rain hammered down. We had a shared interest in photography, so taking pictures in the morning after the storm was fun.
We had some fun evenings in the old King and Queen pub just up the road from his home – apologies if we sent him home in a bit of a state occasionally, but I can assure you that he would have had a very good time!
He was a kind man, on many occasions he took my sister to some amazing stage productions in Warwick and elsewhere - I know she was always very grateful. This was typical of his generous nature. I don’t think I ever saw him angry or particularly upset about anything, he was a very good-natured guy - he laughed a lot.
Some months ago, I thought about him for no reason and tried to see if I could find him on social media – a few old photographs on a website apart, I didn’t manage to reconnect. Somewhere at home I know I have some photos of Chris that I would be happy to share when I get back.
Unfortunately, I cannot make his service as I am currently working in Saudi Arabia. I hope he has a good send off. So cheers Chris, travel well and I'll raise a glass to you.
My condolences to his family and friends.
Bob
A thoughtful and kind man who will be missed. Memories of good times past. Condolences to his family.
Chris passed away far too early, very sad.He loved his dogs and we know what good companions they were to him, we are very pleased to be able to give to the charity.
So very sorry to hear of your passing Christopher.
I greatly miss Chris and chatting to him on a daily basis on our walks. Such and gentle soul who made such an impact on so many lives and absolutely adored the dogs who loved him back.
For a wonderful person who had a big impact on everyone who used the Witchell
Sending so much love and condolences to Chris’ family. We loved running into him and Buddy, and then Saffy in the village, such a knowledge on the village and so many other things too. So sadly missed xxx
A wonderful gentleman and friend. You will be so missed by us all and all the dogs in the Witchell!
Thank you for all our lovely walks and sharing all your stories of Wendover.
Fondest memories Chris, especially the purple MG! Can't believe I won't see you and Saffy in Wendover again. RIP xxxx
I am a waitress at Istanbul and Chris always came in every day. When I work on Saturday mornings I used to count down until he would come in, as it was always a similar time every day, just so we could have a catch up and a cappuccino. Every cappuccino I make reminds me of him.
I am unable to make his service, but I hope he has a lovely send off.
With love
Katie
