Jack was such a unique character, not only a friend for fun times, but also a kind and gentle soul. I will miss him.
This is a favourite photo of John as we grew up in rural Queensland. Deepest condolences to Margaret, Tim and Andy and their families from Bruce, Diane, Michael, Davina, Georgia and James.
Rest In Peace my beloved brother.
Heartbroken for the family at the loss of Jack. Jack was such a unique person and I adored his wit and company. A light gone out but huge memories remain which will be recalled often. Love to you all. Bernie
We were so very sorry to hear that Jack had died.
Sorry to hear of Jack's passing, I always enjoyed working with him at the OU and his sense of humour was legendary. Kind Regards, Peter

Jack was a wonderful person - courteous, cheerful, inclusive, positive, professional and highly effective as a senior manager. He will be greatly missed by his many friends and colleagues from the University.

You will be sadly missed by many Jack, a true gentleman. Was a pleasure working with you, such good fun too
We are so sad that Jack is no longer with us. He has been part of our lives for more than 50 years. Latterly, we have loved our European holidays with Jack and Margaret. So many happy memories of a truly beautiful person.
Dear Margaret, Tim, Andrew and families, our deepest sympathy for your loss of John. He was a very special cousin to me, taking me to my first movie in a big city cinema (Melbourne). We were so pleased that we were able to catch up with you and John in London in 2017. Keeping you all in our hearts and prayers. May our loving God bring you strength and comfort. With heartfelt sympathy, Carmel, Phil, and Pat and families.
So sorry to hear of Jack's passing. He was a pleasure to work with and I'm sure he will be missed by many.
I was so sorry to hear that Jack had passed away. I have lovely memories of him he was so kind caring and always had a beaming smile. He was a pleasure to work alongside as his secretary in Data Processing in the 1970s and early 1980s. My sincere condolences to Jacks family.
My deepest sympathy to Margaret and family .Jack was a much loved down to earth lovely person you could ever wish to meet.A fantastic musician and active and leading member of our church family. He did so much for Stowe and was always very kind and helpful and served with a great wit and humour. When he spoke about the bible at times I thought he was full of the holy spirit.I thought this the last time I saw him in the lentern group. Will be so sadly missed.

We were so sorry to hear of Jack’s passing. He’ll be much missed by everyone, especially his acerbic sense of humour. Our deepest sympathies for Margaret and the family.
A good all round Aussie.
I have known Jack for about 25 years now . He was kind, caring, very witty and a very special husband, father, granddad, father-in-law and a friend to so many. He will be sadly missed by us all.
I have very fond memories of Jack and the idyllic times we all had a young people in our first jobs, living in hostels, going to balls, picnics, BBQ’s, swimming in hot summer nights at the river. And the time, when I was living in a flat with my friend Pam and Jack lent us his very superior record collection. My condolences to you Margaret, and all your family.
Fondly remember working for Jack at the Open University. Never a dull moment!

So sad to hear of Jack’s passing. It brings back all the happy memories with Jack, particularly in Australia, but also my visit to UK. Sincere sympathy to the family members. Margaret Atkin
I was so sorry to hear that Jack has passed away, but he has been and still will be, often in my thoughts. I was Jack's secretary at the OU when he retired and I don't think I've ever worked for a nicer person. Always cheerful and often with a funny story to tell about his dogs and other things. Lots of happy memories.
My condolences to family and friends and my thoughts are with you all.

I will always remember Jack as a lovely funny and caring man. He would have us in stitches in the office!
Sorry but I will be unable to attend the service. My thoughts are with you all at this sad time.
Heart broken at this news. Love and thoughts are with Margaret and family. A sad loss. They broke the mould.
It was so sad to hear of Jack's death. He was such a delightful colleague at the Open University, even though our areas of work rarely overlapped, but you could rely on him for a wise/witty comment on what was going on and a cheerful appearance at extra-curricular events which contributed so much to the University life of those early years.
The Last Appraisal.
Devastated you are leaving us so early.
Unsurpassed as a work colleague and friend.
Will never be forgotten.
Indeed, will be remembered regularly.
Jack always had a ready smile and a rye sense of humour.
Such a lovely man. He was always considerate and possessed a great sense of humour - it was a pleasure to have known him. My condolences to his family at this sad time.
Dear Margaret,

So sorry to hear of Jack's death - I only met him a few times but he was always smiling, kind and helpful. He was such a good friend to my mother so I'm very grateful to him, and so sorry he's no longer with us - he will be much missed.
