We remember Malcolm with great affection, both as host for the many Workshop Series concerts in Lewes over the years, and also for his longstanding involvement with the Brighton Early Music Festival - Mike and Jenny Clemens (BREMF Operations Team). He will be sorely missed.

It has been a joy to have known Malcolm across the years since the 1970s and I shall always treasure the memories of his utter decency, kindness, helpfulness and, above all, generosity. We were fortunate to have him and Sabine to stay with us a number of times in West Cornwall and his instruments (a Theewes and a 1667) are a lasting and magnificent memorial which will long outlive us all. What a lovely man..

When I began to restore a Broadwood Square (1799) I came to Lewes and to Malcolm to buy wire and seek advice. Of the latter he was most generous and sent me on my way encouraged and full of optimism. Our brief meeting is a special memory.

I am very shocked and saddened to hear of your loss. I first met Malcolm at Trinity College where we were both students. Recently I have enjoyed seeing him at his workshop and at the concerts held there.
He will be remembered by musicians and friends as a remarkable man.

Thank you Malcolm, for the privilege of being your soundboard painter for almost 25 years, for your friendship, inspiration, patience, enthusiasm, and I shall miss these.

We will always remember Malcolm fondly. He was a lovely gentle man and we had many happy times with him singing with Abbey Singers and Quinquagesima, often travelling with him to Hereford or which ever Cathedral we were singing in. Loved listening to him talking about his harpsichord making, and some of his amusing stories. He will be greatly missed by many many people. Heartfelt condolences to Sabine and Hannah whom we know, and to the rest of Malcolm's family. RIP Malcolm.
