Charisma in bucket loads and an unforgettable character.
For over 40 years we were great friends and practically siamese twins when it came to our love of music. In the very early years I remember a conversation we had which went along the lines of “Do you think we’ll still love Rock ’n Roll & R&B Music when we are old and retired”? Well the answer from both of us then was “Hell yes” and so it came to pass.
Right up to the last week of his life we were exchanging e-mails & phone calls predominantly about music. He not only listened to all my radio shows but when I got home there was always an e-mail critique waiting for me to read on what he liked and didn’t like. No punches were ever pulled.
In all honesty, in all the 40+ years we never had a cross word.
Goodbye old friend. A true gem, a gent, a beautiful giant of a man.
