Dad I am often told I am just like you.
I am honored beyond measure if that is true.
You were the best example of what a man should be.
I am overwhelmed that someone would say that of me.

I never told you enough, how proud I am to be called your son,
Now that you are gone, I want to tell everyone.
You gave me much more than a name,
Someday, I hope my sons says the same.

Whilst I only had the privilege of knowing Charlie for such a short period of time, he made a lasting and inspirational impact. We laughed, we cried and whilst sharing many photos with me, he had nothing but praise, admiration and love for each and every one of you in his family. The pride he visibly displayed when talking about his family was unmeasurable and his sense of humour was infectious. I will miss him xxxxx

Rest in peace Charlie. Thank you for the many laughs - from stripper nuns to bad chips in Richmond - fond memories. I hope you are sitting somewhere watching Spurs win a cup! It won't happen here. Devoted husband, loving father and wonderful grandad.

I will miss you! Norman, Paul, Robert and I always enjoyed your wit. As you know, Norman passed on in January of this year and we lost Robert in September 2017.

What can I say about Charlie Simmonds?

What can one possibly utter about such a force of nature?

He was a wonderful man who always made me feel welcome in his home, along with his wife, Judy.

He was often, the shoulder I needed to cry on, and the encouragement, and support I needed along the way when my own father was not around.

The effervescent joy, and sheer positivity, he exhibited to both his son (my best friend, Richard) and I, when we were together, was infectious.

I will always remember the laughs and jokes we shared, and the silliness we would sometimes revell in. It was the perfect antidote to an often too serious world.

Charlie knew how to be cheerful, and he knew how to have fun, and how to make people feel a part of that.

There was a real honesty, an unreserved authenticity about Charlie that was so refreshing.

I will miss him very much, and I feel the loss of his passing very deeply, but I still have such amazing memories, and I know Richard and I will relive and share these with each other always, for many years to come.

Rest in piece, Charlie Simmonds. You were a brilliant man, a wonderful father, and a good friend.

I'm so very glad that I got to meet you, and that some of your bright light shone on my life.

I'm forever thankful for that.
