My deepest condolences to Jean and family. My fondest memories of Great Uncle Mike are when I visited him in 2018 with my brother, Robbie. I have attached a picture from this trip of the three of us in front of Buckingham Palace.

Dear Uncle Mike,
I am going to miss your beautiful art in the form of cards and letters sent to me. I admired your wit, your art, but most of all I admired your gentle sweet nature and the way you unconditionally gave to all around you. The world would be a better place if there were more people here like you. Thank you for babysitting me when I was a toddler. Lots of love always, Portia

Mike was a wonderful man. Little did he know when sending Ross and Paul to St Thomas the Apostle, he would inherit an additional 6 sons! He welcomed us all in with open arms. I’ll miss the Afghan hat, naked drawings of my wife and most of all our conversations. RIP Mike Rook. Love Alex, Melissa, Archie, Cooper and your new girlfriend Trixie. Xxx

Mike was without doubt one in a million. He was always a fabulous uncle to me - kind, caring, supportive - and yes let's be honest, the first man at the table to begin a unique story! We're all diminished by his departure, which was all too soon.

We say goodbye to an incredible man.
Mike was a wonderful light that shone into our lives.
His stories, letters and outburst of song brightened our days.
His adventurous mischievous personality thrilled his grandchildren.
His calm, gentle nature soothed us.
His creative imagination, amusing and surprising us.
His passion and determination to do things that seem impossible, continually inspiring and teaching us.
His love and pride for his family unbounded.
His love for Jean, unmistakable.
All these incredible qualities are your legacy Mike, they will live on through the family that you loved and nurtured.
Our lives are a little darker without you but our memories will always be in full blown technicolour.
Bon voyage, Grandin
⛵️❤️
