As part of CPJ Field, the UK’s largest family-owned Funeral Directors, Homeland International is one of the UK’s leading providers of International Repatriation Services, to and from the United Kingdom. We provide assistance to Companies, Funeral Directors and Individuals as they deal with the practicalities of bringing a loved one home.

We have an opportunity for an Operations Manager based in our Uckfield location. We require a very special person to join our dedicated and friendly team in this highly rewarding role.

There are no normal hours of work but you are required to work a minimum of 39 hours per week Monday to Friday, which will be linked closely to the needs of the customer and business. The actual times of work may vary according to the needs of the business but are usually 09:00 until 17:00, Monday to Friday.

The role would be managing the operations team based in the UK, managing and coordinating all of our repatriation cases, wherever they are in the world. The role would require oversight of all repatriation cases, ensuring they are going to plan and meeting the internal standards for quality. The individual would be responsible for the operations of our Direct Cremation brand, Liberty Cremations as well, however this would be only a small part of the role. Responsibilities may include:

  • Management of Repatriation cases all over the world
  • Responsible for collaborating with the repatriation team, other Funeral Directors & colleagues to maximise the success of Homeland International/Liberty Cremations and the company.
  • Manage the rota for our logistics team for their tasks each day
  • Set high performance goals for teams and for individuals, appraise performance, coach, discipline and praise colleagues on their work. Working alongside colleagues, demonstrating & living the standard of performance required by the Company as well as organising the work and people so they can deliver exceptional service.
  • Organising the department on a minute by minute basis to deliver for customers
  • Understand, conform to and teach to others the Company’s standard of performance in every role.
  • Ensure that all colleagues contribute their best; good communication (listening, questioning, challenging, briefing, praising and team problem-solving) is key to this.
  • Resolving any deficiencies in team or individual performance quickly and fairly with the coaching support of the Associate Director.

Demonstrate the attitude needed to do a great job; positive, proactive, team spirited, dynamic & open to learning, innovation.

Previous relevant experience is preferred, but not essential, ideally you will:

  • Be hard working, reliable and honest, committed to maintaining confidentiality at all times.
  • Be a team player.
  • Have experience of dealing sympathetically with clients.
  • Have experience in managing a team
  • Be of smart appearance.
  • Possess the emotional strength and resilience required to work with the deceased in a variety of circumstances whilst maintaining a calm, mature and compassionate disposition for their families and loved one.
  • Speak a foreign language in addition to English (preferred but not essential)
