Leading family funeral directors, CPJ Field, has raised more than £400 for Winston’s Wish, after its funeral homes took part in this year’s “Great British Brekkie”.
Colleagues at its funeral homes in Bedfordshire and East Sussex participated in the fundraising efforts for the charity, which supports children and young people after the death of a mum, dad, or sibling.
Colleagues from Shires, Luton funeral home participated by preparing bacon and sausage sandwiches, along with an array of cereal, yoghurt and toast, as well as sweet and savoury snacks, washed down with many cups of tea, juice and fruit smoothies. There were also numerous raffles – donated by friends and local businesses – and other fundraising activities going on as part of the initiative. Other funeral homes to have taken part include: Shires – Dunstable, Cooper & Son – Uckfield and Ballard & Shortall – Forest Row.
Attracting the attention of many members of the community, visitors included those as young as nine months and one resident, soon to turn 90 years old!
Charlie Field, joint managing director at CPJ Field, comments: “As a company, we never fail to be surprised by the overwhelming efforts of our staff. Collectively, their efforts have helped raised a fantastic amount of money for Winston’s Wish, an amazing charity that is very close to our hearts. We would like to say a huge thank you to the local community for coming along and to all those that supported us and donated prizes; we couldn’t do it without your help.”
